I want to be clear that this video is focused on contested divorces, as uncontested divorces have a different process, which I will cover in another video. If you and your spouse are considering a divorce or if you are considering it alone, I encourage you to have a discussion about it. This can be an easy or difficult process depending on your relationship with your spouse and what is best for you. It's important to determine what will work best for you before proceeding. I understand that being served with divorce papers can feel like an ambush. Sometimes, you see it coming and sometimes you don't. It can also be easier or more difficult to talk to your spouse about starting the divorce process. I completely understand these dynamics, but regardless, let's discuss what it takes to get a divorce started. Typically, I have my clients come in so that we can discuss the type of divorce they are seeking. Since this video is focused on contested divorces, we are at the contested phase.
